How can electricity be generated using façade surfaces? A team from the Institute of Architecture at HTWK Leipzig asked themselves this very question and very swiftly developed a complete system solution. Their prototype now stands in Bad Rappenau. The essence of its success: “form follows sunlight”. The ALUCOBOND® tray panels are folded into a three-dimensional format and silicon half-cells glued onto the upwardly inclined panel surfaces. Special software calculated the optimal shape to produce the best light yield. The resulting look is unique, determined by location and surface orientation.
